Was sorry to hear of James’ death. He will always be remembered for being so kind to Melba when Grannie Warren kept her while I worked. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you during this time.

  3. Fonda, I was reading the updated profiles on the Enka/74 website, and read where your father had passed away. I just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you during this trying time. I hope that you and John are doing well otherwise. I have seen John’s mother at a few gatherings lately, and she has updated me on your new additions to the family. This must fill your arms with love during this sad time. Take care of each other, I just wanted you to know I think of you two often and wish you well.

  8. I have great memories of days shared with James in Beaverdam. Even though I have lived away since 1954, would occasionally see him when I was back in NC. He always had a smile on his face and happy to see me even though we had grown old apart. Betty and family I share the loss and will pray that your will find peace in knowing that he has found a place of rest wrapped in the palms of the LORD. ‘So when tomorrow starts without him, don’t think that you are far apart, for every time you think of him, he will be right there in your heart’. God go with you Betty and family.

  13. Betty Jo,

I’m so sorry to learn of your loss. James was a wonderful man and will be missed by all who knew him. May faith be your guide through this time of grieving and may it be the source of your strength and the light of each tomorrow. During my loss of Bob someone sent this prayer to me and I want to share it with you. God Bless and may you find comfort in the following prayer:

Please give us STRENGTH and courage, Lord, to bear what we must bear and nudge us when our FAITH is weak to remind us you are there.
Give us HOPE for our tomorrows, tell us LIFE will still go on, show us Lord, that all this darkness will be followed by the dawn.
You have led us through so many things, YOU’VE pulled us THROUGH before, hold us up, Lord, till we’re through this and we are STRONG once more.
    Amen

  14. YESTERDAY AT 2.00 P.M. I ANSWERED A PHONE CALL THAT TRULY SADDENED MY HEART.PROBABLY MY FONDEST MEMORIES IN LIFE WAS GOING TO TREETOPS AND BETTYS OR JOE AND OLIVEE HANNAHS.I WAS VERY YOUNG THEN AND I KNEW THERE WAS GOING TO BE A HUNT OR A FISHING TRIP TAKING PLACE,OR AT LEAST A CONVERSATION ABOUT ONE.THAT GANG OF MEN WERE TOUGHER THAN WHET LEATHER AND IT AMAZED ME THAT THEY COULD OR WOULD TRAVEL THAT FAR ON FOOT IN THE MOUNTAINS JUST TO KILL A DEER OR CATCH A FISH.I WENT UP BEAVERDAM A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND RODE OUT BEARFARM ROAD AND JUST LOOKED UP THAT WAY AND THOUGHT ABOUT THE GOOD TIMES THERE AT TREETOP AND BETTY’S.I CONSIDER IT A PRIVILEGE TO HAVE KNOWN SUCH A MAN AS THAT AND IN MY HEART AT LEAST,HE WAS BEAVERDAM.FOR BETTY AND THE FAMILY CHERISH THOSE MEMORIES THAT YOU ALL HAVE INSIDE BECAUSE NOBODY CAN TAKE THEM AWAY.>>>> PHIL.

  15. Betty,
