James Doyle Shawver, 84, of King Arthur Court, died Friday, February 1, 2013, at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, surrounded by family. Mr. Shawver was born in Akron, OH, and was a son of the late Thomas Lewis and Velma Ruth Everhart Shawver. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a former accountant with Stouffers Food Company. He was a member of Cornerstone Church. Surviving are four daughters, Samra Williams (Lynn) of Asheville, Lynda Freedman (Richard) of Mentor, OH, Trish Shawver of Atlanta, GA, and Brenda Mason (Bill) of Brooksville, FL; three sons, Mark Shawver of Cleveland, OH, James Shawver of Sarasota, FL, and Donald Shawver of Asheville; a sister, Hazel Stull of Akron, OH; a brother, William Shawver (Loretta) of Kerrville, TX; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Billow Funeral Home, Fairlawn Chapel, Akron, OH, with interment at Rose Hill Cemetery, Akron. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 1778, Asheville, NC 28802. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the family.
