James E. Moody

Asheville- James E. Moody, 77, of Asheville, died Monday, May 29, 2023 at Mission Hospital.

Born in Columbus, OH, he was a son of the late William Brooks and Mattie Moody Dunn. He was also preceded in death by a son, Aaron Moody, a sister, Patricia Price as well as a brother, Donald Dunn.

James passed peacefully while watching the CocaCola 600 with family by his side. Even though they were divorced, he and his ex-wife, Ruth Price, were still very close and she was with him until the end. He never met a stranger and was loved deeply by many for 77 years. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Moody of Fletcher and Kim Buckner of Asheville; one son, Stephen Moody of Asheville; two brothers, Cecil Moody of Newport, TN and Dave Moody of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
