James Edward Norvell, Sr., 72, of 17 Greenbriar Lane, Candler, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the VA Medical Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late John N. and Carrie Mawyer Norvell and was also preceded in death by brothers, Roger, John, Everette, Calvin and Wiley Behlz Norvell; sisters, Virginia Mallonee, Florence Hice, Elsie Payne, Lottie Smith and Russell Bailey. A US Marine veteran of Korea, he was retired from BSAF after 33 years of service as an electrician.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Coates Norvell; son, James E. Norvell, Jr. and fiancee Debbie Harmon of Candler; a grandson, Robert James Norvell of Orange City, FL and a sister, Vivian McMahan of Abilene, TX.
Graveside services will be 11:00 am Saturday at Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Shelton officiating.
His family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am Saturday at the church prior to the service.
