James Frazier Freeman

James Frazier Freeman, 92, of Asheville Terrace Apartments, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Baptist Retirement Home.
A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mary Spivey Freeman. He served in the US Army during WWII in North Africa and Italy and was retired from the City of Asheville.
Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nell Freeman and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Reverend Charles Sprinkle officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team.
His family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
Mr. Freeman’s family would like to thank the WNC Baptist Home for their kindness and service during his illness.
I used to live at Asheville Terrace where I enjoyed having Jim as a neighbor. He liked to talk and was always very friendly. I’m sure he will be missed. My condolences go to his family.
