James Goforth

James Goforth, 63, of 720 Starnes Cove Rd., Candler, died Wednesday, August 16, 2000 at his residence. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Ky and Addie Rollins Goforth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Laura Hunter Goforth. He was a former employee of American Enka. He is survived by his daughter, Lorraine Thomas of Morganton; sons, Jimmy Goforth and David Goforth both of Candler; sister Jean Smith of Candler; brothers Ronald Goforth of Florida, Roger Goforth of Oregon, Rick and Robert Goforth both of Missouri; ten grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, Spring Creek. Reverend Furman Wilson will officiate. His family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m., Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue.
