James Harvey Moody, 86, died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at the Charles George VA Medical Center.
Born in Jackson County, Mr. Moody was a son of the late Gilbert and Bonnie Hipps Moody. He served in the Navy during WW II and Korea, and was a retired carpenter.
He is survived by his children, multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with military honors provided by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

To all of Uncle Jimmy’s family, you are in my thougths and prayers. Linda, Pat, and all grandchildren and family, I want to give you my deepest condolances. Uncle Jimmy was one of a kind, and I remember him best when I was little and he’d come visit my mother and give us kids a ‘tickle job’ or ‘beard-rub’ on our necks…….. and now he is home once again with all his sisters, Shirley, Phyllis, Mozelle, and brother, Guy. May he rest in peace.
