James “Jamie” “Jim” Glenn Pratt, 51, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 30th, following a stroke. He will be remembered for his kind and gentle heart, his unique wisdom and his quirky sense of humor.

Born on March 12, 1969 in Media, PA, Jamie was the son of James and Josephine Pratt. Right from the start, he lived life to its fullest, every day.

He attended Wilton High School in Wilton, CT and graduated from The Cambridge School of Weston, MA in 1988. After testing the minds of professors at several colleges across the country, Jamie graduated from Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT.

He had a love for technology which led him to many different endeavors. Most recently, he worked for several amazing years at Toast, Inc., a cloud-based restaurant software company. Jamie managed restaurant relationships for Toast all over the Southeast.

Jamie developed quite a passion for cooking. One of his favorite pastimes was making gourmet dinners for family and friends. A few weeks before his passing he was able to share his cooking talents with his parents on a recent visit.

Throughout his life he cherished all types of music, spur-of-the-moment adventures, outdoor sports, and game nights with Laura and their four sons.

Jamie had a loving fascination with all living creatures. He and his family had dogs, cats, snakes, mice, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, lizards and even a chinchilla.

Above all, his greatest love was family.

Jamie is survived by his wife, Laura Lea and sons, Hunter and Tristan; stepsons, Kenton and Thomas; his parents, James and Josephine Pratt; his father and mother-in-law, Kenton and Linda David; his brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Anne Pratt and his nephews and niece (Edward, Daniel, Mebane and Harrison) who will forever be blessed by their fun times with “Uncle Jim.” He is also survived by many of his extended family and friends.

Jamie touched the lives of countless people and his memory will be cherished by everyone who had the good fortune to have had him in their lives.

Jamie was not a huge fan of formality, so his family will have a private celebration of his life. Arrangements are being handled by Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, Arden, NC.

In lieu of flowers, we know Jamie would want you to enjoy a special day with your family or loved ones in his memory. You can also contribute to the Hunter & Tristan Pratt education fund.

  1. I knew Jamie from his visits to BFCC, playing golf with his dad. He was always smiling and would always give me a hug. I enjoyed knowing him and his wonderful family. My heart goes out to all his family.
