James D. “Jim” Moore, 90, of Fairview, died Monday, June 13, 2022.

Mr. Moore was a native of Buncombe County where he lived all of his life. He retired after 40 years of service from Sayles Biltmore Bleachery. He was a member of Nesbitt’s Chapel Church.

Jim was a little league baseball coach at Fairview for many years as well as a church softball coach, and a life-long baseball fan. He was always willing to lend a hand for those in need.

He was the son of the late Benjamin and Ella Bass Moore. He was also preceded in death by four sisters.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Lytle Moore of Fairview; daughter, Linda Burril of Charlotte; two sons, Gene Moore (Jennifer) of Asheville, Mike Moore of Fairview; one grandson, Jamie Burril of Mt. Pleasant and one great granddaughter, Summer Burril.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Nesbitt’s Chapel Church from 11:00 to 12:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 12:00 pm at the church with Pastor’s Eric Mcabee and Glenda Hayner officiating. Burial will follow in the Church’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nesbitt’s Chapel Church cemetery fund; c/o Kim Ray, 63 Heaven Ridge, Fairview, NC 28730.
