James “Jimmy” Haynes, age 90, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at the Charles George VA Hospital.
Jimmy was born June 15, 1934, and was the son of the late John and Virginia Haynes of Barnardsville, NC.
Jimmy was a United States Army Veteran.
He leaves behind three sisters, Elizabeth Jones and husband Opal, Francis Jarrett and Carolyn Taylor; sons, Stan Haynes and his wife Lori, Keith Haynes and Tim Haynes; granddaughter Amanda Young and husband Kevin; grandson Jacob Haynes; and step-son, Kent Kelly and his wife, Kasey.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the funeral service following at 12:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Billy King will officiate. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.

I worked with Jimmy on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was always happy and kind. I am praying for everyone.
He was my papaw and I’m so glad I got to spend the last 3 days with him on a road trip before he passed away. I love you and will miss you. Love your grandson Jacob . I will see you again someday soon.
