James Laxton Parker

A native of Henderson County, he was a son of the late J.F. and Ella Cagle Parker.  He was a veteran of WW II, a manager of A & P and Bi-Lo Groceries, and a former employee of Westinghouse Corporation.  He was a member of Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Virgie M. Parker;  two daughters, Louise Stevens of Denver, NC and Joyce Bledsoe of Columbia, SC;  four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday in the Lake Julian chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Mr. Larry Shelton officiating.  Burial will be at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Chruch Cemetery.

His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
