James Morgan Stewart, 89, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Buncombe County to the late William T. and Mary Jane Lunsford Stewart, he was a self-employed rock mason and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Stewart; brothers, Henry and Arnold Stewart; and sisters, Liz Stewart and Katherine Miller. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Josie Howington Stewart; son, Lee Stewart (Courtney) of Durham; daughters, Doris Stewart of Asheville and Betty Joslin of Hendersonville; brother, Charles (Louise) Stewart of Brevard; sisters FlorenceYarbrough of Bennetsville, SC and Patricia Buckner of Weaverville; sister-in-law Barbara Randall of Asheville; five grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; one great, great grandchild and several loving nephews and nieces. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Tunnel Road. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends Monday from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. The online memorial is available at grocefuneralhome.com
