James R. Waycaster, 79, of 6258 Hendersonville Road, Fletcher, died Sunday, August 1, 2004. Mr. Waycaster, born in Yancey County, was the son of the late John and Lavada Mathis Waycaster. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and was a self-employed farmer. Mr. Waycaster is survived by a sister, Edith Hodge and her husband Clarence, three nieces, Linda Hall of Asheville, Patsy Fuller of Knoxville, TN and Pamela Torrres of Washington, DC and one nephew, Larry Searcy of Maryland. His family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue. Private interment will be at Shepherd Memorial Park.
