James Ralph Barnwell

James Ralph Barnwell, 89, formerly of Sylva, died Friday, October 11, 2013, in Asheville. Mr. Barnwell was born in Black Mountain, NC, and was a son of the late Josh and Cora Marr Barnwell. Mr. Barnwell was a former educator at Tuscola High School, and was the operator of Sylva-Webster Real Estate for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Kate Harris Barnwell; daughters, Janie Dunn and Jill Parker, and son, Jim Barnwell. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the WNC Baptist Home in Asheville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Scotts Creek Baptist Church, 97 Steeple Rd., Sylva, NC 28779, or to the WNC Baptist Home, 213 Richmond Hill Dr., Asheville, NC 28806.
