James "Jimmy" R. Green, Jr., 55, of Oakview Park Rd., died Monday, October 8, 2012. Mr. Green was born March 6, 1957 in Asheville. He was a graduate of Reynolds High School in 1975, the Asheville School of Cosmetology in 1976, Sacramento University of Psychology in 1987, and returned home in 2005. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Green. Surviving are his mother, Ethel H. Green; sister Jeannette Angel; brother David Green and wife Jennifer; nephew "Alex" Green; and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loving Food Resources, PO Box 25142, Asheville, NC 28813, where he volunteered. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

    I worked along side Jim on Tuesdays at Loving Food Resources and truly enjoyed his sweet presence. Jim’s thoughtfulness and kindness towards others was notable. May peace be with him now.

  14. I met Jim some many years ago when he returned to Asheville. He was a great, caring and loving man. His heart was pure. He was a wonderful friend and brother to me at times.

  15. Jimmy and I met through a mutual friend. He worked hard to create a clientel and build several beauty shops over the years from the ground up. Everyone liked Jim. He was a breath of fresh air to everyone he met. I am lucky enough to have been his friend for over 20 years and through Jimmy also blessed with his mothers friendship. I know he is being taken care of and his dreams are being realised. There is a void in our hearts. His kindness, respect, and generosity will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

  16. Jimmy and I went to school together for many years at Oakley Elementary and then at Reynolds. I loved his smile and he always made me laugh. He has such a sweet spirit and everybody loved him! You will be missed my long time friend.
