JAMES R. LEWIS
James R. Lewis, 81, of
Asheville, died Sunday, March 6,
2005, at a local hospital.
Born in Greenville, South
Carolina, he was a son of the late
Arthur and Gracie Hood Lewis. After
a career as a local jeweler, he then
retired from the V.A. Hospital. He
served in the U.S Army Airforce
during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Ada
Belle Bradley Lewis; one brother, C.
Alfred Lewis of Greenville, SC; four
sons, Keith Lewis and wife Nora of
Asheville, James R. Lewis Jr. and
wife Margaret of Asheville, Charles
Lewis of Woodstock, GA and Kim
Lewis and wife, Janet of Clemmons,
NC; three daughters, Susan Fraser
of Arden, Dianne Hargrove and
husband Mark and Peggy Lee
Wilson all of Asheville; seven
grandchildren, Scott Wheby and
Avery Lewis both of Asheville; Ami
Roach and husband Sean of
Auburn, GA; Donald Fraser Jr. of
Arden, Alex Lewis of UNC Chapel
Hill, Foster Lewis of Clemmons, NC
Heather Hall and husband Jason of
Boonesville, NC; and two
great-grandchildren, Mackenzie
Roach and Zackary Hall.
A funeral service will be at
11:00a.m. Thursday in the chapel of
Groce Funeral Home on Patton
Avenue. Burial will follow at Lewis
Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends from
7:00- 8:30 Wednesday at the funeral
home.
