James Verdun Creasman, 92, formerly of Asheville, died Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Mechanicsville, VA.
Born in Nebraska, Mr. Creasman was a son of the late James Harvey and Minnie Reed Creasman, and was married to Joyce Winona Creasman, who died in 1997.
Mr. Creasman was a Navy veteran of WW II and was retired from Contel Communication Co. He was an active member of Good News Baptist Church, Candler.
He is survived by two daughters, Maxine Swepston and husband, Jim, of Mechanicsville, VA, and Joyce Hall and husband, Spencer, of China Grove, NC; seven grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Good News Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

We are sorry we can’t be with you at this sad time. Dad was a wonderful, christian and loving father to many of us. It was a blessing Lyle and I could visit with him in September. We send our love and prayer’s at this sad time for all of you. With a tear in my eye and joy in heart he has gone home with his soul mate and his Savior. Love and Prayer’s, Brenda & Lyle.
Maxine, Jim, Joyce and Spencer and all your families. What a joy to meet and share a short time with your father. Such a super christian and loving man. My prayers continue with each of you as you fine rest and peace in Our Lord and Savior and savor the time you have had with ‘Shorty’. We will all miss him.

Mr. Creasman will be sadly missed at church. He loved his church & loved the Lord, and Sunday he finally got to meet his Savior & reunited with his loving wife.

and prayers. Brother Verdun was a Godly man who we had a very high regard for. Norris built there home
several years ago and he still has
the bible that they got for him
