Jane Faye King Chouquette

Mrs. Jane Faye King Chouquette, age 84, of Asheville, died on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Sunrise of Raleigh. After years of declining health from progressive supranuclear palsy, she died peacefully with her husband of 65 years, Leonard, by her side.

Jane was born October 24, 1940, in Sampson County to the late Woodrow and Nora Gainey King. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Rachel King Dorman, Shirley King McPhail, Mitchell King, and Ernest King.
A graduate of Clinton High School, Mrs. Chouquette was a retired teacher’s assistant at Oakley Elementary School in Asheville with 26 years of experience. She was a long-time member of Oakley Baptist Church, where she taught preschool Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years.

Mrs. Chouquette is survived by her devoted husband, Leonard; daughters Elizabeth Chouquette Wall (Chris) of King, Linda Chouquette Clipp (Randy) of Clayton, and Julia Chouquette Capps of Asheville. She is also survived by five grandchildren: David Julian Clipp (Michelle) of Jacksonville, FL, Grace Elise Clipp of Charleston, SC, Gregory Julien Capps of Raleigh, Caroline Olivia Capps of Greenville, and Natalie Nora Capps of Asheville. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren: Theodora Jane Clipp and Lincoln Cornell Clipp; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 12 noon at Oakley Baptist Church in Asheville. Rev. John Alexander and Rev. Dr. Randy Clipp will officiate. Burial will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church during the hour prior to the service.
