Valeria "Jane" Green Duval, 90, of Candler, died on Friday, November 18, 2011, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Harry Rosser and Valeria Wyatt Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Neal Duval, who died in 1996; and by four brothers. Mrs. Duval had retired from the National Climatic Data Center, in Asheville, where she worked as a key-punch operator. After retirement she worked for several years at Sam's Club. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church, and had often attended Luther PHC with her daughter and son-in-law. Mrs. Duval is survived by her daughters, Martha Hewitt and husband Jim, of Candler, and Sarah Duval and husband Doug McCubbins, of Haw Creek; son, Jim Duval and wife Peggy, of Norfolk, VA; two brothers; seven grandchildren, one step-granddaughter, and seven great-grandchildren. A funeral service for Mrs. Duval will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday in the Pisgah View Memorial Park Mausoleum. Her family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 at the cemetery. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  1. Miss Jane will always be a special friend to me. All of us at Blue Cross Blue Shield loved when she would fill in for our receptionist. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

    Janelle, thanks so much for sharing your sweet Mimi with me! I have so many fond childhood memories of all the time we spent with her! She was such an amazing cook! Mimi really took great care of us, and would do anything she could to make sure we were having fun. She will be very missed! She is in heaven with Papaw!     I just wanted to express my sypathy to each of you and your families in the loss of your Mother growing up in West Asheville Baptist Church she was always an inspiration and in my adult years a good friend the world has loss a jewel. My deepest regards.

    Martha will remember me as I have seen her in years past but doubt all of you will as you were small children many years ago when I was a teenager I babysit all of you for one summer it was a wonderful experience and memory.
