Janet Harper Banks, 75, of Asheville, died on Friday, January 20, 2017. A native of the Oakley community, Janet was a daughter of the late Dorothy Ammons Blackwell. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Judy Roberts; and brother, Mickey Harper. Mrs. Banks is survived by her son, Lamar Banks; sister, Sherri Burrell (Tommy); granddaughter, Mandy Banks; nieces and nephews, Kelly Morgan (Randy), Wendi Pegg (Bill), Travis Burrell (Kristiana), and Tommy Harper; and longtime companion, Tony Carrelli. The funeral service for Mrs. Banks will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Donald Hare officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.

  9. I worked with Janet many years ago at Mills Mfg. She was more fun than a barrel of monkeys!
    I have thought of her often over the years….. I know that she loved her family very much.
