Janet Heydenburg Oldham, 81, of Brevard, North Carolina, departed this life on February 28, 2025. Janet was born in Kensington, MD on June 5, 1943 to the late Dr. Norman Paulson and Katherine Fisher Heydenburg. Janet graduated from High Point College with a degree in education. She taught elementary school and was a reading specialist for a number of years, but her true passion was sewing. Janet made clothes for herself and her children as well as taking custom orders. When she moved to Brevard in 1995, she created “Organic Casuals by Jan” and sold her items locally at the farmer’s market in town as well as online.
Survivors include: daughter Laura Oldham (Beth Seeley) of Baltimore, Maryland; son John (Ellen) of Richmond, Virginia and their three sons: Jack, Fisher, and Max; and son Richard (Kristy) of Rosman, North Carolina and their three sons: Jason and Ryan Voiselle, and Hunter Oldham. Jason (Ireland), welcomed great granddaughter, Blakely, to the family in September 2024. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Heydenburg (Mary) of Grand Junction, Colorado, brother-in-law Tom Carmichael of Baltimore, MD and sister-in-law Elizabeth Breckinridge of Sandston, VA. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Jack Oldham, and her sister, Helen Carmichael.
A memorial service will be held at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary on Friday, March 14 at 1:00 pm. As Janet had several beloved dogs over the years, she wished for memorial donations to the ASPCA.

I remember the times when Uncle Norman and my Dad, Floyd Heydenburg as well as Aunt Katie and my Mom, Peg Heydenburg, would crack up over funny family stories- so much FUN!!
