Janet Pate Lyles, 59, of Swannanoa, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2022. Born February 28, 1963, she was preceded in death by her parents, George and Judy Pate, and her cherished uncle, Willard Worley.
Janet graduated from Owen High School, attended AB Tech, and was employed by Carolina Hand and Sports Medicine. She loved the Lord and attended Biltmore Baptist Church. The beach was her happy place. The mountains were her haven. Music was her great escape. And Heaven is now her resting place.
Ever the consummate encourager and trusted confidante, she was known for her kindness to all, her quiet strength, and a smile that would light up the room. She loved her family fiercely, her friends faithfully, and her felines fabulously.
Janet is survived by her beloved son, Cameron Lyles and his fiancé, Abby Newton, of Burnsville; grandson, Tyven Lyles, of Burnsville; sister, Tamra Gilbert (Darren), of Swannanoa; brother, Terry Pate, of Black Mountain; aunts, Ruth Payne (Glen) and Sarah Phillips (Dennis) of Candler, and June Watkins of Fletcher; cousins Tina Robinson (Steve), of Black Mountain, and Jeff Payne (Becky) of Clayton, NC; as well as many dear family and friends.

Janet, oh how we are going to miss your sweet smile! My childhood friend and so many memories that I will cherish forever!! You left us far too soon, but you are in the arms of Jesus and are healed!! You are with your precious mother and father and other family and friends who have gone before. I love you Janet and will see you one day again my friend!! We will keep praying for your family left behind for peace, comfort, and strength!❤️🙏
Oh Janet, although time and space separated us in life, I always thought of you, prayed for you, and giggled often when reminders came along of all the special times we had in our lives. Always you will be in my soul until we finally see each other again….in Glorious Heaven. Prayers for your Family navigating the gulf they are in the middle of. Love YOU Friend 💕🙏💕
We are all still in shock of you leaving so soon. You are going to be missed by so many. I believe God had better plans for you and I trust we will see you again. I have lots of good memories that will be cherished. Prayers and blessings to Cameron. Rest In Peace my friend.
I will always remember that 20 minutes in to my Daddy’s first birthday in heaven was your arrival time in heaven. You, your mother, and my mother once threw me the most beautiful surprise sweet 16 birthday party. I can’t help but think that our mothers planned another party for 9/30/22 and were eagerly awaiting the guest of honor’s arrival. Oh, the joy you brought to Heaven that night. I can only imagine. I love you and will see you on the other side. Make sure there’s cake…..and lots of icing. ♥️🧁
So hard to Believe. Such a sweet lady and friend to everyone.
Janet and I were co-workers at Asheville Arthritis and Cameron you were her world. My deepest condolences to you and your family. Rest in peace my friend.
Janet was such a kind and gentle person. I’m thankful for her friendship and will truly miss her sweet spirit. Heaven gained an Angel. Janet is perfect and in the presence of the Lord, rejoicing with her family! Cameron, Tamara, Terry and Family…may God bless and comfort you🙏
Janet was one Precious lady!
Didn’t get to see or be with her but we were close in heart! It is so hard to think that she is gone! Just to know she’s with Jesus makes me happy for her, son and family !
My prayers, love and sympathies are with you Cameron and family
Dearest Janet the lord has another sweet blessed angel. You were always just sweet and kind and I loved so much sitting on the back porch at your home and listening to the birds and the gentle babble of your water feature. You loved Cameron so much and I pray he knows how much. Peace in heaven friend.
