Janet Lucille McCoy Brinkley, 64, of 599 N. Louisiana Avenue died Friday, August 17, 2001 at Hospice Solace Center.

A native of Buncombe County she was a daughter of the late George W. McCoy, Sr., former editor of the Asheville Citizen-Times, and Lola Love McCoy. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Myrtle McCoy-Moore. She was retired from TDP Electronics and was a member of the Basilica of St. Lawrence.

Survivors include a brother, George W. McCoy, Jr. and his wife Eva of Richmond, VA; four nieces, Ellen Reed of Asheville, Martha McCoy of Connecticut, Mary Lyons of Washington, DC and Beth Priest of Pennsylvania; three nephews, Jeffrey Moore of Massachusetts, John Moore of Arkansas and George W. McCoy, III of Georgia; many grand nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm Monday at the Basilica of St. Lawrence with Fr. Frank J. Seabo officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery. A reception will precede the service at 1:00 pm at the church.
