Arden ~ Janie Stepp Conard, 60, died Saturday in an Asheville hospital.
A native of Buncombe County, she was daughter of Alice Bagwell Stepp of Arden and of the late Hubert Stepp. Mrs. Conard was wife of the late Harold Conard who died in 1982. She was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother is a daughter, Sherry Owenby, and her husband Bob, of Easley SC; a son, Mike Conard, and his wife Tina, of Arden; a sister, Mary Ruth Elingburg, and her husband Charles, of Arden; a brother, Jack Stepp, and his wife Millie, of Arden; five grandchildren, Dustin and Jared Owenby and Evan, Bo and Rebekah Conard.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher First Baptist Church with the Revs. Roy Waldroup, Harold McKinnish and Ralph Sexton Jr. officiating.
Burial will be at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.

Janey and all of you hold a very special place in my heart that will never be removed! She was a precious Godly Lady and most of all a Godly Mother. She is now decorating Heaven with her glory, what a beautiful site to behold when we cross over! Your mother is not dead, she just started living!
