J.B. Miller

A native of Haywood County, he was resident of Asheville for 45 years. He was the son of the late Jesse C. and Lydia Garren Miller and was preceded in death by his first wife Billie Dolen Miller who died in 1981. Mr. Miller was a US Navy veteran of WW II and a retired employee of American Enka/BASF and was currently employed with Asheville Saving Bank.

He was formerly active with youth assisting in sports and square dancing for 15 years in the Hominy Valley area.

Mr. Miller was a man of love to all; with no hatred given or received.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Whittemore Curtis Miller; daughter, Beth Melton and husband Donny of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Chip Miller and wife, Myra of Concord, Buddy “Chuck” Miller and wife Robin; step-daughter, Linda Kunkle and husband Dean of Asheville; step-sons, Robert Curtis and wife Cathy and Clarence Curtis all of Asheville; half sisters, Maude Crane and Jenny Robinson both of Haywood County; twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at West Asheville Assembly of God where he was an active member. Reverend Michael Brown will officiate with burial following in Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.

His family will receive friends 7-8:30 Monday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue where the body will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
