Jean Pauline “Mama Jean” Reese, 79, of Fairview, died Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at Mission Hospital.

Born in and a lifelong resident of Fairview, she was the daughter of the late Willie Ransome and Jane Elizabeth (Keener) Reese. She was also preceded in death by two daughters: Wanda Morrow and Debbie Sherlin; two brothers: Charlie and Roy Reese; two sisters: Ethel Shepard and Mamie Reese Jones; and two sons-in-law, Brandon Frisbee and Kenny Harwood.

Mama Jean is survived by her daughters: Donna Sherlin Galloway and her husband Mark, Amanda Burris and her husband Mike, Kristi Burris, and Brandee Davis and her husband Sully; ten grandchildren: Scotty, Phillip, Haven, Autumn, Kelsey, Jimmy, Brynnen, Jenny, Haley, and Tyler; two great-grandchildren: Destiny and Aaron; and two sisters: Lois Tate and Rose Woodard.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Trinity of Fairview with Pastor Jessie Looney officiating. Burial will follow in Emma’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to help with expenses can be made to Donna Galloway.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  8. Jean was a really a good friend to me and Andy. I remember all of us standing in Walmart picking out Christmas ornaments.When Andy passed Jean sent me one of the ornaments Andy picked out.

She was my closest friend for 20 years was the nicest and friendliest person I have had she had an amazing family and daughters I will never forget going to Angelo’s eating with her a lot and trips to lake life and antique shops most wonderful time we used to go to old fort and listen to country blue grass she was a lot fun to dance with at kd’s in Fairview she has such a nice and cozy house will miss going to see her at the house love her so much will miss her a lot praying for her beautiful family no saying goodbye to her going to say I will see you later ❤️😊🙏
