Jeanette Rhymer Jones, 85, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at The Lodge at Mills River. Mrs. Jones was born in Spartanburg County, SC to the late John R. Rhymer and Velda Burrell Rhymer. She was also preceded in death by her husband, K.D. Jones and six siblings, Clyde Rhymer, Boyd Rhymer, Bertie Edwards, Lizzie Thomas, John R. Rhymer, Jr. and Louise Tucker. Mrs. Jones loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ above all things and that flowed over to her love and commitment to family and others. She lived a life of self sacrifice and giving. She was a faithful member of Biltmore Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Biltmore Lions Club for over 20 years and became the first lady president. She is survived by a brother, Oscar Rhymer; four children; John D. Jones, Ann Hensley and her husband, Bill, Kathy Carter and her husband, James and Velda Short and her husband, Steve; seven grandchildren, Angela Nash, Aaron Hensley, Melissa Carter, Joseph Carter, Sarah Sherry, Darren Blaney and Amanda Blaney and three great grandchildren, Adam Nash, Emma Carter and Deacon Carter. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian at 2:00 pm with Dr. James Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Valley Springs Lions Club P.O. Box 371 Skyland, N.C. 28776.

  2. John, Ann, Kathy and Velda- so very sorry to hear the news of your mother. I remember her as a very sweet lady and always enjoyed the times we could visit.
    I will be unable to attend her service tomorrow due to my work schedule. Please know I will have you in my thoughts and prayers tomorrow and in the weeks to come. I have such great memories of younger days and will always have those. As you will have your memories to comfort you in the days ahead.

  3. So sorry to hear of your loss. Your sweet Mother sewed for us for years..Some of my best memories are coming to your little trailer with my Mom. What a great person…Heaven is rejoicing today..Jeanette Ray is my Mom. She will be sad to hear of this..
