Thank you, Jeanne for your contagious energy. You had a way of reminding us not to take ourselves too seriously and the rare gift of making a difficult day not seem so bad. There is now a void in the lives of us who have had the privilege of calling you friend. Thanks for the smiles.
Had one legal run in with Jeannie, after that, we were best of acquaintances, almost friends, Loved her to death! God rest her soul

My condolences to the Boliek family. Please realize that there are untold number of persons with whom Jeanne had a positive influence on that have helped mold and change their lives. Particulary the young adults who were children when she worked with them as a SRO. After such a long career, the examples of helping others would be never ending. Her work was not in vain and should be celebrated.
God Bless and my prayers are with you.
Jeanne will be missed. Her smile and laughter made the world a brighter and better place to be. Jeanne my sister in blue the world has lost a beautiful person. Rest now sweet Jeanne.

Words cannot fully express the sorrow that I feel for the passing of Jeanne. Her bubbly personality and smiling face lit up my work days for many, many years. God bless you, her loving family, and may His love help you get through this very heart-breaking time in your lives.
Jeanne’s legagy will live on through the lives that she touched on a daily basis. I will miss her cheerful smile and sense of humor the most. Rest in peace and may God wrap His loving arms around her family & friends.
Jeanne was a friend who was full of life and laughter. She was always positive and encouraging to others. I remember when I was training at APD and having a difficult time. Jeanne was there to encourage me through it. We have been friends since. Jeanne has been a positive influence for a lot of people and has touched a lot of lives in the 26 plus years she has worked at APD. She will be missed.
To all of Jeanne’s family…I know your hearts are broken…as mine is. Jeanne was the sister I never had…and I will continue to love her with all my heart. My prayers are w/you family.

God Speed Jeanne..Your friends and family will forever talk about the good you have done in this life.
Boliek Family: May God bless you in this trying time. I will remember Jeanne as a fun loving person who could put you in a good mood if you were feeling down. During the years we worked together at APD when she saw me she would yell, ‘106’ and I would yell back, ‘Red Thunder’ which was a joke between us. She touched many children’s lives when she worked in DARE and as a SRO. Know that she will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace Jeanne.
Jeanne always seemed to have a smile to greet you with. I knew her for only a short time but she made an impression. My heart goes out to her family, she will be missed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. You blessed our lives in many ways and I will never forget your smiling face or cheerful laugh. You have been a great influnce on not only my children and a great roll model but to all the students in ACS that have come in contact with you. You are the reason Stacey majored in Crimmal Justice. She wants to make a difference in lives like you did in your career. I do not understand and maybe never will why you were taken from us so young, perhaps God had other plans for you. We will never forget you and always will love you.
I worked with Jeanne for a number of years and she was always the happy one of the bunch. I will miss her smile and her laugh which always seemed to start at the bottom of her feet. Jeanne will be sorely missed not only by me but by an great many people whose lives she touched. God Bless you Jeanne and my you Rest In Peace.
Our world is now quiet without your laughter. A little dimmer without your smile.
My prayers are with Goshorn family and our APD family.
My prayers and thoughts go out to the family of Jeanne. What a beautiful lady she was. We use to have a blast together at APD. I will never forget when people came in to complain about being beat up or pulled over they would always say it was that red head. Well, it was either me or Jeanne and I would always pray they would identify her, but as luck had it they said it was me everytime. She didnt get the name Red Thunder for no reason. I pray that she is resting in peace and pray that we will meet again one day in Heaven. What a great loss to APD and to her family.
JEANNE WAS A VERY NICE AND LOVABLE PERSON. SHE AND I WERE FRIENDS FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS. SHE SEEMED TO BE HAPPY AND HAD A VERY GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR. JEANNE LOVED HER FAMILY AND HER FRIENDS. WE SHALL ALL MISS HER VERY MUCH. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND COWORKERS.
Jeanne’s smile was infectious and she never met a stranger. She was someone who touched the lives of others, and left them feeling better about themselves. God Bless the Boliek family.
Jeanne was an amazing person and will be missed dearly. She touched my life as a DARE officer and a SRO. I will never forget the wonderful person she was. God Bless.
I will never forget the words we shared through the hallways of Asheville High. She will be miss deeply but NEVER forgotten.
A beautiful lady, inside and out. Rest in peace.
I couldn’t believe it when I heard that you had passed. I remember you teaching DARE to my classmates and I in 5th grade. I have never heard of anyone saying that they didn’t like you. You always stood out to me because you always remembered me (: With my mom and grandmother both working for the school system I would run into a lot and you still knew my name and could recall various conversations. The last time I saw you was when you came into my job and you told me you could ‘live in cracker barrel we just had to keep the food coming!’ You were always so nice and you made an impact on everyone you met not just the NUMEROUS amount of kids that you had came into contact with but with everyday people. You will be greatly missed but God has gained an amazing angel. RIP Officer Boliek.
I’ve know Jeanne for 7 yrs. When I started working for APD she always made me felt welcome and never treated me like a outsider. She always had a smile on her face and so cheerful. Jeanne was always willing to give me a hand with any animal calls even though that wasn’t her job. She was a joy.
The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the hand of God. My prayers are with the family.
Jeanne and I went to rookie school together almost 28 years ago. She has always been a good friend and one of my favorite people in the whole world. She was a good cop and I for one will miss her very badly. I can’t count the number of times we have laughed together, worked together, been out all night on an investigation, etc. She was always cheerful and could see the funny and absurd side of the things we came across. The thin blue line just got a little thinner and the world is a little poorer without her.
Your smile sparked the room and your laugh was contagious. You will be missed.
May God bless you and your family. You brought joy and delightfulness to my kids in the morning at Asheville High. Your smile, and your happy greets to the kids made their day. We know your smile and joy will look down upon us from heaven.
Jeanne and I became friends 24 years ago. We did a lot of fun things at school and outside the school. When she walk into my office we both scream out (partner in crime-you my girl). I will miss seeing Jeanne at school, and most of all the fun time we shared outside the work place. I love you Jeanne save all your brady bunch a place up in heaven and we will continue our fun. LOL A Friend Always Mrs. ‘V’ To Jeanne’s father and sister you have my deepest sympathy, may God bless you both.
Mr. Goshorn, I am so sorry for your lost. Jeanne was my best friend forever and she was always like a sister to me and I will always love her. May God be with you and your family always. I will always keep Jeanne in my heart and prayers forever. She will always be a part of my life forever and always.
Love Always to You and Your Family

Marisa Oxner
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all of the Brothers and Sisters over at APD.
There was not a single time that I came across Jeanne and she did not make me laugh and smile. She was an all around great person and the world will never know how many people she has truly touched. Rest in peace now Jeanne, you will be missed.
Jeanne,
You will be greatly missed. I will never forget all the fun memories I had, and made with you from the time you were the DARE officer at Claxton, to the time you spent at Asheville High. I will miss the daily phone calls and jokes between you, me, Beth, and Pam. I wish that everyone on this earth would have gotten a chance to hear your infectious laugh, and see your one and a millon smile, and the ones that had the chance to, will one day, again be surrounded by you and your endless love. Rest in peace. You will be greatly missed.
To my dismay I have only had the opportunity of knowing Jeanne for the last four years. Despite the often difficult or uncomfortable situations we found ourselves working together, she never failed to brighten the moment and make me laugh or at least smile. And she never failed to offer help or assistance no matter the situation. I, among many, will greatly miss her boisterous personality. My thoughts are with her family and the many many friends who will miss her dearly.
Leigh Killeen, M.S., Asheville PD Forensics Section
Jeanne,
I find it hard to know that this world will go on without seeing your smile, a smile that shined brighter than the sun and gave life and joy to everyone who looked upon you, no matter how they may have been felling at the time. You will be missed but never forgotten, and always loved. My prayers go out to the family that God will replace the hurt and pain that you are feeling with His Holy presence.
To the Boliek Family and to the APD Family…I am so sorry for the loss of Jeanne. Her smile, laugh, wit and sense of humor could make anyone feel better. I learned a lot in life from her, not only as an officer, but as a person. Rest in Peace, Jeanne. You will be sorely missed.

I worked with Jeanne for several years at APD and will always remember her being such a very plesant person. My condolences go out to her family.
Jeanne and I went to rookie school together in 1982 and it did not take long to become friends. She had a great sense of caring and a wonderful smile that was contagious which got us through some difficult times. I will miss her greatly. May God be with her family at this difficult time.
A coworker with a contagious laugh and bright smile. You brought so many of us joy and laughter over the years. You always took the time for a friendly conversation. May you now rest in peace. Your friendship and dedication to the profession will forever remain in our hearts.
No matter how badly her day was going she always had a huge smile and conversation for you. I don’t think she ever met a stranger. Jeanne, you will be greatly missed by many people. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Goshorn family. Peace be with you always Jeanne.

Jeanne was always a joy to be around, she lit up the room. She will be missed by all of us that had the pleasure of working with her.
I am going to miss Jeanne, she was a very special person and we would laugh at her thoughts on what went wrong with her computer. She would bring her computer over and she would be smiling and say she does not know what happened it just does not work. We would laugh about it. I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
To The Goshorn Family,
Jeanne brought so much joy to me. I am so blessed to have known her and to consider her as a close friend. I will miss her more than words can say.

Jeanne always had a smile for me whenever I saw her.She will be missed by many.Rest in peace Jeanne.
I worked with Jeanne at the Police Dept. for several years, she always had a smile on her face. She taught my child in D.A.R.E. and she provided a positive roll model for him, as well as many others. Jeanne will be missed by many, whether those at the police dept. to the students she came in contact with, and the general public. Rest in Peace Jeanne, we love you.
I remember meeting Jeanne formally for the first time during a DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education)rally. She flew into Asheville Middle School on a RAID(Recon Air Interdiction Detachment) OH-58A+ and jumped out after landing with this huge smile on her face. She then delivered a heartfelt, energetic message to the audience and gave out materials and candies. Her exuberant personality was infectious and I knew I had to get involved with her efforts to promote drug awareness from that moment. Everyone who knew her will miss her. May God be with her family and friends.
I knew Jeanne for 23 years. She was a thoroughly professional officer in court and a lot of fun in Jerry Gaddy’s office! Always a smile–Jeanne, you had a greater impact on more people than you could ever know. RIP Red….we will miss you.

We are truly sorry for your loss, our prayers are with your family.
She was a dedicated and truly professional officer as well as a wonderful person who will be missed and remembered. My deepest condolences to you all. I pray that God will give you comfort in this sad time.
Jeanne was a wonderful person who left her mark on many lives. Her smile and infectious laughter will always be remembered. Please accept my deepest sympathies on your loss.
What a shock to hear that she is gone! I knew her as Officer Marple at Vance Elementary School almost 20 years ago. She was instructing the D.A.R.E. program (to keep kids off drugs) and a great influence and encouragement to me as a young girl. I’m almost 30 years old now and proud to say that I’m still drug free and much thanks to her dedication and influence on so many young lives! She’ll be missed.
Heart & humor-two outstanding elements in Jeanne’s character. I feel privileged to have known her & will cherish the many memories I have made with her right there laughing beside me. She was a stellar Brooklyn girl no matter how long she resided here-always dynamic & true to herself.’Red Thunder’ was her nickname and she burst forth with such vivacity that her absence now leaves a profound stillness in this unsettled air. I share in your grief & hope you know she was loved.
Officer Boliek helped keep this community safe for a quarter of a century. There are not many better testimonials to a person’s merit or character. Thank you for the good things you did we knew – and the many more you did that we did not.
Jeanne was such a love. Beautiful smile. And, that laugh. Who could ever forget that laugh…I’m proud to say that not only did I work with her for nearly 13yrs, I was fortunate enough to call her my friend. She never met a stranger, and you just had to be happy when she entered the room. Her personality was one never to be duplicated. She was Jeanne…butterflies my friend. I’ll always remember that little joke we shared…
My deepest sympathy to Jeanne’s family. She was a joy to be around and I will always remember the laughs that she brought where ever she went. She will be missed.
Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
In my life I have never met anyone as vibrant, caring and lovable as Jeanne. Her enthusiasm was contagious, as was her hearty laugh and that 1000 watt smile. To her family and friends, you’ve received a life’s worth of blessings to have known this angel. And in the short time I knew her my life has been immeasurably enriched. The pain is unbearable and I can not imagine how or when it will subside. I will see you again my friend.
Jeanne will truly be missed! She was a beautiful person who loved life and people. Jeanne had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. Jeanne was professional yet she could shake her booty at the prom. Jeanne touched students and teachers lives. We will truly miss her. Peace and comfort to everyone who grieves for her.
Officer Boliek was my DARE officer in elementary school and again in high school. She made a profound diffrence in my life starting in Elementary school. She was there for me, even when she wasn’t scheduled in our classroom, on an emotional level during some family difficulties. I truely believe she encouraged me in ways that led me to be the way I am today. I could have easily turned down a diffrent road. She kept up with me throughout high school as well. Her smile, laughter and love will never be forgotten! I pray for God’s grace and comfort on your family.
Knowing Jeanne Boliek was truely a blessing to me. She was a warm, loving, and compassionate person. Her smiles were contageous and she had a nack for making people feel good about themselves. I looked up to Jeanne as a mentor, and relied on her as a friend. A friend that was always there to help raise my spirits on good days and bad. During her career at the Asheville Police Department she impacted and bettered many lives that were in need, and will be missed by all. God bless Jeanne and her family.
Condolences to the family.I had the pleasure of knowing Jeanne since 1987 and found her to be a ray of sunshine. She brightened my day many times.RIP ‘Red Thunder’
Boliek, You have been such a staple to the community of Asheville. You were my DARE instructor nearly 16 years ago (back then I knew you as Marvel), and a family friend as long as I can remember. Thank you so much for the friend you have been to my mother as she fought cancer, you even had her be Fred McGruff one year in the Christmas Parade. The role model you have been to the students of the Asheville City Schools in and of itself is heroic. I was so happy to get this job at AHS to have the opportunity to work with you, and now you are gone. God’s perfect plan is so much greater than our understanding. I love you and will miss your one of a kind laugh and smile. The staff and students of AHS will forever miss your presence in the school building and athletic events! Goshorn Family you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Jeanne, you brought joy to everyone that you encountered. You touched more lives than you could have ever realized, through D.A.R.E. and the SRO program. I will miss you, greatly. R.I.P. Red. Take a bow.
Officer Boliek,
You were the reason I made it through high school. You were my SRO officer at AHS 2000 through 2002. My father had died 2 weeks before I started high school in 2000 and you immediately brought me under your wing. You were there for me when I had no where else to turn. You took care of me and the day I graduated high school, I thought of you. I’ve thought of you alot and remembered words of advice you’ve given me over the years. And alot of that advice has helped me grow to where I am today. When I heard of your passing I dropped my cell phone into my lap and immediately tears were streaming from my eyes. God called you home and while the world is a dimmer place without you here, you can watch over those you love standing beside HIM. You will be greatly missed, but you are also greatly appreciated. Not only were you an amazing officer, but you were an even more amazing person. I love you ‘momma boliek’. Rest In Eternal Peace. I will see you again.
To the family of Jeanne, my God keep you in your time of need. I will truly miss her beautiful smile and bubbly personility. Asheville City Schools has lost a very special person. Love Always, Tanya
Officer Boliek, I will always remember you in your drop top convertible cruising down Hendersonville Highway throwing your hand up as you passed us by.With a smile so infectious that all we could do is smile back because we knew that life was too important for you to be sitting still, you just kept it moving! You were an awsome inspiration to the students at Asheville High School. You made many people’s day fun filled and bright! Your ‘Light ‘ will continue to shine while you sit on the right hand side of your father! May God’s Grace rest upon you and your love ones! You will be truely missed!
Stunned and heartbroken. Jeanne, your silly, sarcastic humor and our Catholic school girl bond got me through our days working together. I’m thankful to have known you and you will be sorely missed…
Jeanne is the coolest person. My world was a lot more fun with her in it. I will miss you, Jeanne. Your friend for EVER!
Gwen Garrett
Friend and co-worker
Jeanne, you are sunlight in a dark room. I’ll miss you!!
I had the privilege and honor of knowing and working with Jeanne for the past four years here at APD. What a lovely, sweet young woman. Her smile and humor were one of a kind. She had so much life and energy about her. I hope that I can emulate the honor and excitment for my chosen profession that Jeanne Boliek displayed in her 26 years of service. My heart goes out to the Goshorn family and friends.
In celebrating Jeanne’s life one but has to remember the joy she brought with her smile and the dedication she brought to her career as demonstrated as a positive influence and role model to countless children she taught as a Dare Officer and the victims she helped as a Detective and Patrol Officer. She was truly a great person and dear friend who was willing to give you a hand whenever or where ever you may need. She will be sorely missed.
Aunt Jeanne, I will never forget the summers I will never forget you or the summers I got to spend with you. I love you.
Jeanne, I pray that you have found eternal peace with our Lord In Heaven. From a fellow APD officer,’Thank You’.

Jeanne taught my students every year and they loved her! So did I. She brought such joy to all who knew her. I will always keep her in my heart and her family is now in my prayers.
I pray for Jeanne’s family during this time of grief. I also pray for her squad members and co-workers at APD, as they must continue conducting business as usual even as they mourn. ‘Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.’ (Matt 5:4)

To the family who lost an angel, I’m so sorry for your loss. I have had the pleasure of knowing Jeanne for nearly 20 years. She was Asheville finest law enforcement offices who truly knew the meaning of to serve and protect. She loved her job and the people she encountered. More recently Jeanne and I became frequent visitors of the Kounty Line on Hendersonville road and she always ran to greet me, especially on Sundays when I was late for church. May GOD bless her father, sister, freinds and co-workers.
To Jeanne’s family and friends: My encounters with Jeanne were always a blessing. Jeanne was a person who built others up, an awesome blessing. My prayers are with all the officers at APD as well.
I consider myself lucky to have known and worked with Jeanne over the last 9-months. From the moment I met Jeanne it was apparent she had a heart of gold and loved everyone she worked with as brothers and sisters. Her upbeat attitude and joy of life was contagious and the mood of a room noticeably lightened when she entered, giving us a smile, wave, and ‘hello’. The days ahead will be a little less bright without Jeanne and I will miss her dearly.
Jeanne, I know that your in a much better place now. Your infectious smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all. Your out going personality and giving nature was a blessing. The positive effect you had with students and officers will never be replaced or equalled. I was blessed for the time we had together. My condolences to the family. So go now and dance with the angels and swim with the dolphin…Red Thunder. May God bless you.
Jeanne, your evervescent presence will continue to surround us with warmth, laughter, insight and wisdom every time we think of you. You were always quick to read “the real deal” in all situations and approached your life’s calling with deep human understanding, compassion and humor. In the 25 years I have had the honor of working with you and being friends, you were always there for me and for everyone in a big, boisterous, joyful way! There are so many lives you have inspired and changed; so many of our students have grown up with you as their mentor, role model and friend. What a bright light you are! Thank you for giving so much to me personally and to all those lives you have touched in our entire community. I will always smile when I think of you and I hear your laughter right now. God bless you, my sister, and my friend. My prayers are with you and your family now and always.

Jeanne touched more lives than she probably ever realized. Often I am asked, ‘Do you know Officer Boliek? She was my DARE officer.’ It says alot when kids grow into adults and still remember the officer that made a difference in their lives. What a priviledge to have known such a ‘Lady Cop’.
Rest in peace thanks for your dedication and service. May your family be comforted.
I always enjoyed seeing Jeanne on our campus at AHS. Her smile and laughter were so uplifting. My heart goes out to her family in their grief. I will miss her terribly.
Jeannie, I will miss you.
What a loss for all of us. Our prayers go to Jeanne’s father, to her family, to everyone at APD, and to everyone who knew and loved her in South Asheville.
My deepest condolences to the family and loved ones. ‘ Earth has no sorrow, that Heaven cannot heal’ Its times like these that we truly know the love and compassionate nature of God. In His pavillion is where we find comfort and strength. I was saddened by the news, but quickly encouraged because Jeanne would talk about her retirement and how much she looked forward to it and I can’t help but believe God heard her plea and answered her call. Rest In Peace my friend.
I feel a real loss in her passing and want to extend my sympathy to her family. She will always be remembered as a cheerful woman who loved to work with young people. It has been a privileged to have known, and worked with her.
Jeanne~

Jeanne,
I have had the pleasure of working with you for several years now, and every time I saw you, without fail, you had a big smile, bright eyes, and an upbeat, bubbly attitude. I will never forget that. I don’t know that I have ever known anyone else I could say that about. You truly were a caring, special person and I hope you know how many people love you and how much we will miss you.
I would like to take this time to send my heart to your family. I loved Officer Boliek. She taught me so much during the 5th grade in our D.A.R.E class. My heart goes out to you at your time of need. She will always be remember as a great officer, friend, and person!
She was always smiling and you always knew when she walked into the room with that wonderful and loud personality. Always joking around and had the ability to make anybody laugh even on their darkest of days. A great friend to have. I admired her strength and her valor. She will be greatly missed and the loss of such a strong spirit in this world will be felt by many.
My deepest condolences to the Boliek family. Jeanne was truly a beautiful person who touched many lives. Her infectious smile and laughter would always brighten my days. May you rest in peace my friend.
Jeanne…You will never know how much you have given to me as a friend and sister, and to others around you. You were always smiling and so full of life. Those big, blue eyes were always sparkling and you illuminated when you walked into a room. I have always loved you woman as my sister…and I always will.

So saddened…Jeanne, there are no words that can say what so many of us feel. I don’t think a day ever went by that we didn’t laugh about something! Thank you for your infectious laughter, your smile, and your friendship. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.
I was so sorry to hear about Officer Boliek’s passing. I first met her when I was in 2nd grade and she was my school resource officer. I reconnected with her later on when I was in high school and she was my school resource officer at Asheville High. She was always upbeat and glad to see ‘her students’ and we always felt safe and well cared for when she was around. She was never too busy to stop and say hello. She was a spectacular officer and a person to be respected. She will be missed.
My Deepest Sympathy to the Goshorn Family.
Jeanne,
I will always remember your smiling face, laughter, and heart of gold. You touched my heart and I will miss you. Rest in Peace.
Jeanne I will miss you! You could always brighten my day with your beautiful smile and wonderful personality. I will cherish our memories forever……

Ill never forget when me, you and Linda went to Thunder Ridge.
