Douglas Jeffrey (Jeff) Sasser, 47, of Skyland, NC passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert Sasser. He is survived by many loved ones including his grandmother, Annie Sasser; mother, Scarlett Dew; father, Harvey Sasser; his stepmother, Juanita Sasser; siblings, Jill Sasser Whitson, Berkleigh Dew and stepsister, Kristie Edmundson; children, Brooke Sasser McMichael, Dylan Sasser and Noah Sasser, and grandchildren Maylin McMichael and Mark McMichael. Jeff was a long time employee of the Skyland Exxon, where he worked alongside his uncle, Eddie Sasser. He was a proud veteran and served in the US Marine Corps. A memorial service for Jeff is scheduled for Friday, December 16 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, with a visitation with friends and family immediately following the service. The immediate family will attend a private burial. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Veterans Services of the Carolinas, mailing address: 30 Cumberland Ave, Asheville NC 28801, or give online at ABCCM.org-you can designate giving to the veterans. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

My memories of Jeff are how he loved his family, especially his children, and how proud he was to introduce his mother and sister when they came, while visiting, with him to church at Biltmore Baptist while I was a member there. He was kind and thoughtful….. I prayed with Jeff, for Jeff, and I am praying for those of you he left behind. My entire family in Bladen County offer our deepest condolences.

  12. I have been in the wrecker business 1995 to 2004, had to stop wrecker due to my medical change. I have and still connected with the NC Towing Assoc. I received this if about Mr. Sasser. My prayers for his keen folks and others at this time.

  13. I was so sadden that someone I considered a good friend will no longer be here. Jeff had a huge heart and always a kind word to say and of course that big smile he always wore. He took care of all of my company vehicles and I could always trust him to watch out for my better interest. We have truly lost a Prince of a guy. My sympathy and prayers to his children and his family during this tragic and sad time.

  15. We have known Jeff and his family for years and so sad to hear the loss of Jeff. Jeff was a great guy and will be greatly missed by everyone he knew. Sympathy and prayers to his family. .Will sure miss seeing you at the station.

  16. I am so saddened at the loss of such a wonderful man. I didn’t know Jeff well, but always appreciated his warm greeting and wonderful smile every time I saw him at Skyland Exxon. He always called me by name and was so friendly. I always looked forward to seeing him there…and will miss him so much. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his friends and family.

  17. I’m sorry to learn of Jeff’s passing. He always spoke to me when I say him at the station and made sure I was taken care of. He will be missed. I pray that God will comfort and bless his family, friends and co-workers as they adjust to not having him.
