Jerome Perry Baker

Jerome "Perry" Baker 88 of Fletcher, NC went home to be with his Lord on Feb. 14, 2014 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC after a long illness. He was a native of Henderson County and the son of the late Alex and Dollie Darnell Baker. He was a member of Hoopers Creek Baptist Church.
Perry was a WWII veteran of the US Army, serving much of his time in France. He retired from Cranston Print Works and was a cattle farmer until the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Eugene Baker; three sisters, Reva Gosnell, Belle Drake, and Nelle Ledford; and four brothers, George, Parlie, J.C. and Lloyd Baker.
He is remembered by his wife, the love of his life for 66 years, Blanche Souther Baker, and his daughter, Gale Wilkie and her husband, Gary, of Fletcher. Perry is also remembered by his five grandchildren: Jerome Wilkie and his wife, Amy, of Edneyville; Cristy Youngblood and her husband, Eddie, of Fletcher; Shane Baker and his wife, Sybilla, of Sanderson, TX; Lisa Gordon and her husband, Shawn, of Dana; and Jason Baker and his wife, Amanda, of Tuxedo. Perry will be greatly missed by 11 great-grandchildren, Ivey, Emma and Isaac Wilkie; Dakota and Savanna Youngblood; Cameron and MiKayla Baker; Faith and Blake Baker and Sienna and Garrett Gordon. Perry is survived by three brothers, J.V. of Asheville, Alex of Fairview, and Eugene Baker of Fletcher along with several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Fletcher First Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday, Feb. 17th 6:00-8:00pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb. 18th at 2:00 pm officiated by the Revs. Roy Waldroup, David Gentry and grandson-in-law, Eddie Youngblood. Interment with military rites will follow in Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731. We are so blessed to have his wonderful home health hospice nurse and all the special people that touched our lives at the Elizabeth House. Surely the Lord has put them in this place.

Perry is just sleeping. He will wake up shortly on a cleansed earth with the chance to live FOREVER (Psalm 37:29) That is what our creator has promised, it was his original purpose. What a great thing to look forward too. http://www.jw.org
