Jerry Bruce Manning, 62, of Alexander, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at UNC Chapel Hill Memorial Hospital. A native of Middlesboro, KY, he was a son of the late Virgil and Lou Ellen Allen Manning. Mr. Manning is survived by his wife, Gail Thompson Manning; daughter Melissa Manning; sons Michael, Matthew, Jacob, and Clint Manning; step daughters Brandy and Virginia Holder; 9 grandchildren; sisters Shirley and Sally; and brothers Ricky, Tommy, Bobby, and Jimmy. No local services are scheduled at this time. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  2. So very sorry to hear of yet another loss in the family. My heart goes out to each and every one of you. Like Michelle said earlier, as we grow up and grow older, we don’t always keep up with each other like we would like, but we love each other anyway. I felt like I was family before I married Gary Smith, and I’ve always treasured you all like you were mine not his – LOL – please know I really do love you all.
