Fairview - Gerald "Jerry" O. Gathmann, 66, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004.
A native of Forest City, Illinois, he was the son of the late Frederick and Claudine Azbell Gathmann. Also preceding Jerry in death were twin infant sons; two sons, Gerald Mark Gathmann and Steven Frederick Gathmann, and a sister of Jerry's, Gladys Gathmann.
He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, the Antique Car Club of WNC and was retired from Teut Trucking. He was a gun collector, an avid reader and enjoyed Nascar Racing.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Maxine Stamey Ingram Gathmann; three daughters, Sheryl Judd, and her husband Randy, of Lincoln, IL, Sharon Stuckey, and her husband Kent, of Canton, IL and Karen Gathmann of Morton, IL; a son, Greg Gathmann of San Jose, IL and a stepson, Gregory Ingram of Apex, NC. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Steven Judd, Brandon Judd, Gregory C. Gathmann, Angela Gathmann and Stephanie Gathmann; Mr. Gathmann's first wife of 24 years, Joyce Owens Gathmann of Mason City, IL; his sister, Gloria Cunningham, and her husband Douglas, of Delavan, IL and his brother, Glen Gathman, and his wife June, of Forest City, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday in the Bethany United Methodist Church conducted by the Revs. Glenda Bramlet and H.D. Houck. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
