Fairview ~ Jessie Hubert Harrah, 77, of 3016 Cane Creek Road, Fairview, died on Saturday, December 8, 2007 in a local health care center. He was born in Backus, West Virginia and was the son of the late Milton Harrah and Lena Pugh Harrah. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Patterson Harrah, who died in 2005. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. He retired from General Motors Corporation and was a member of Trinity of Fairview Church in Fairview, NC. He is survived by his step-daughter, Narcia Ridenour and husband Tommy; a grandson, Michael Ridenour and wife Michelle; two great-grandsons, Matthew and Micah Ridenour all of Etowah; three sisters, Genevieve Williams and husband Ira of Mt. Ebow, West Virginia, Eva Mae Wasilewski and husband Richard of Clinton, MD and Jo Ann Capon and husband Robert of Surprise, AZ; two brothers, Eugene Harrah of St. Albens, West Virginia and William “Sonny” and wife Shirley of Mechanicsville, MD; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with the Rev. Steve Harris officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11:00 A. M. Tuesday in Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville, West Virginia.

    Jessie was the sweetest person and a joy to be around. We know he loved to play golf. He always had something to funny to say and brought a smile to your face. We know he went to heaven to be with Jesus and Mildred his buddy. We are sorry for your loss. He was a great person and will missed greatly.
