Mrs. Smith was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Nonomis and Effie Creasman Henson, and was married to the late Roy Smith.
Surviving are three daughters, Jeraldine “Jerri” Krause of Panama City, Maxine “Micki” McAfee of Bowman, GA, and Kathleen “Kitty” Woodbery of Seattle, WA; two sons, Kenneth B. “Bud” Smith and Kell “Bill” Smith, both of Enka-Candler; a sister, Belle Brown of Asheville; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday at Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

My Darling Granny,
I did not see you in the final years of your life, but will always remember you as I knew you to be, loving, full of life, and Arthur & I will both remember with fondness the visit you made to us in California, remember we tried to find the ocean, and I couldn’t. We love you Granny, and I just wish that I had been able to spend time with you in the later years.
