Jessie Tabor Stewart, 85, of Candler, went home to join her husband, Jack, with the Lord on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at her home. A native of Swain Co., Mrs. Stewart was a daughter of the late George Henry and Vergie Allen Tabor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack Tilman Stewart, who died in 2007; and her sisters, Edith Gilbert, and Esther Wiggins. She was a member of Glady Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Stewart is survived by her daughter, Theresa S. Atkins and husband Jerry, of Weaverville; sons, Lowell G. Stewart and wife Ann, of Travelers Rest, SC, Jack C. Stewart and wife Anita, of Candler and Allen R. Stewart and wife Marty, of Candler; sisters, Louise Digges, and Alma Riddle; brother, Melvin Tabor and wife Roberta; and five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Nanny Jessie planned her services herself, and asked that a graveside service at Pisgah View Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Charles Sprinkle, take place on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Mrs. Stewart's home on Lower Glady Fork Rd., Candler. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glady Missionary Baptist Church. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

    We are so sorry for your lose, we both know how much Nanna meant to you and your family. Steve had gotten the chance to share wonderful time and meals with her, something I missed out on.

    This is a hard time, but remember the party that is going on now in heaven with your grandfather. They are once again reunited.
