Jimmy Lee Ferguson, 70 of Oak Ridge, TN, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017.
A native of Waynesville, NC, Jimmy was the son of the late Troy Lee and Kate Ferguson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Ferguson.
Mr. Ferguson proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a graduate of Tusculum College. Later in life, he retired from the Department of Energy. In his free time, he was a woodworking enthusiast, an avid reader and a well-versed historian. His family considered him a mentor, teacher and tutor of many subjects.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Ferguson; sons Royce Lee Ferguson and Brian Elliott Ferguson; daughter-in-law, Renee’ Ferguson; sister, Judy Hyde; grandsons, Gavin, Ashton and Cole; mother-in-law, Nona Roberts; and niece and nephews, Debbie Youngblood, Marty Duckett and Jeff Duckett.
The funeral service for Mr. Ferguson will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. Interment with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
His family will receive friends for two hours prior to the service beginning at noon.
