Jo Ann Lackey, 79, of Asheville, died Wednesday, June 19, 2013, at Care Partners Hospice. Born in Buncombe County to the late Oscar and Lottie Harding, she was a homemaker and a member of Reynolds Baptist Church. Jo is survived by her husband, Leonard DeOwen Lackey; 6 daughters, Regina Fox of Candler, Debbie Austin of Horse Shoe, Dee Ann Henson of Hendersonville, Sonia Parker of Asheville, Lisa Styles of Arden, and Jennifer Griffith of Asheville; 2 sons, Lennie Lackey and Jeffrey Lackey both of Asheville; nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Reynolds Baptist Church. Rev. Bobby Smith will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the Lackey family.
