Joan Kathleen Zima, 59, of Candler, died Tuesday, January 20, 2015.
A native of Jacksonville, FL, she was a daughter of Gail Johns Byrd and of the late Carlton Dilbon, and step-daughter of the late Woody Byrd.
Mrs. Zima attended St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and The Rock Church of Asheville.
In addition to her mother, Mrs. Zima is survived by her husband of 38 years, Chester Zima; daughters, Renee Womble and husband Robert, and Sherrie Zima; sons, Randy Zima, Daniel Thomas Zima, and Joseph Brandon Zima and wife Kelly; grandchildren Taylor, Allison, Emily, Raquel and Rex; sister Karen McNair and husband Mike; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Dean Cesa officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave.
Rest in peace my dear sweet cousin. I have so many fond memories of us growing up that I will cherish always. Give your Dad an my Mom and big hug and kiss for me.
