JoAnn Carland Ray, 72, of 573 Old Leicester Highway, Asheville, died Thursday, December 25, 2003, at her home.
Mrs. Ray was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Virginia Webb Carland. She was married to Robert L. Ray who died in 1992. She graduated from Lee H. Edwards High School and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Bob Ray and his wife Bobbie and Lt. Ron Ray and his wife Karen, all of Asheville; three grandchildren, Lee Ray, Jeff Ray and Olivia Ray and one great-granddaughter Alana Ray.
Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Fender officiating. Burial will be at Sluder Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lee Ray, Jeff Ray, Gene Hines, Bobby Smith, Matthew Smith and Jared Teague.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
