JoAnne L. Hewatt, 69, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018, at CarePartners Solace Center. Born in New Jersey, Mrs. Hewatt was a daughter of the late Walter C. and Anne Fischer Lyttle. She had lived in Asheville since 1989. She was an avid craftsperson, especially in fiber arts, including quilting, crochet, and knitting. She melded her avocation with her profession by working with the Southern Highlands Craft Shops, both in the Tunnel Road Store, and retiring as manager of the Biltmore Village Store. She was past president of the Asheville Quilt Guild. Her family include her husband, Jackson (Jack) E. Hewatt; son, Christopher J. Hewatt (Marybeth); daughters, Kelly Hewatt Frady (Jeremy) and Allison Elena Hewatt Houk (Matt); grandchildren, Cody Hewatt, Connor Richards, Jackson Hewatt, Grace Buckner Natalie Buckner and Mallory Houk; and brother, Walter A. Lyttle (Judy Bowers). A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, 72 Long Shoals Road, Arden. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Snellville Historical Cemetery, Snellville, GA. The family will also receive friends at Tim Stewart Funeral Home in Snellville, GA, Saturday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
