Hendersonville ~ Johanna Wojciechowski Grainger, 92, of Hendersonville, passed away peacefully in her sleep Friday, April 30, 2010 at Lake Pointe Landing Retirement Center.
A native of Passaic, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Stanislaw and Jennie Bernhardt Wojciechowski. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Grainger who died in 1978.
Johanna was proud of serving in the U.S. Army during WWII. She volunteered with the Red Cross and was their liaison at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center for several years. She also recorded more than 5, 000 hours of volunteer work with the critical care unit of St. Josephs' Hospital.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan St. Martin and her husband, Mitch, of North Pole, AK; a son, Bruce Grainger of Jacksonville, FL and two granddaughters, Kristie and Amanda Grainger.
A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Shepherd Memorial Park with CarePartners Hospice Chaplain Brenda Lewis officiating.
Our mother and grandmother now floats in the clouds with the angels that she dreamed of for so long.
Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
