John A. Hoyt

Mr. Hoyt was born in Canton, OH, and was a son of the late John Bernard and Mary Helena Amen Hoy.  He was married to Edna B. Hoyt who died in 1988, and was the father of John A. Hoyt, Jr., who died in 1974.

Since his retirement from Pan American Airways, John had spent much of his time working on a number of inventions and product improvements, and held at least one patent.  He was also an accomplished woodworker, cabinet maker and carver.

He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Steve Sacco of Charlotte and Marilyn and Norman Beverly of Weaverville;  a daughter-in-law, Martha Hoyt of Weaverville;  a sister, Helen McHenry of Ohio;  a brother, Don Hoyt of Orlando, FL;  six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Saturday at Ashelawn Gardens with the Rev. G. Scott Lynch officiating.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Friday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
