John Adolphus Gibson

John Adolphus Gibson, 76, of
Asheville, died Friday in a local
hospital.  A lifelong resident of
Buncombe County, he was the
youngest child of the late Robert M.
Gibson and Hattie Glenn Gibson.

He was a 1941 graduate of Christ
School and a U.S. Navy veteran of
W.W. II, having landed on the
Normandy coastline in the Allies
invasion on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
He owned and operated Gibson's
Launderette in Asheville and retired
from the U.S. Postal Service.

Surviving are his daughter, Nina
Gibson of Asheville; his grandson
Dana Trytten of Alexandria, VA; a
sister, Martha Weir of Asheville and
brother, Robert M. Gibson of Horse
Shoe, NC.

A memorial service will be held at
2 p.m. Monday at All Souls
Cathedral in Biltmore.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may
be made to Mountain Area Hospice,
P.O. Box 16, Asheville, NC 28802.

Groce Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.
