John Charles Stine, 88, of Fletcher, died Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Fleshers of Fairview. A native of Kenosha, WI, John was a son of the late Harry and Emma Mammelev Stine. He was also preceded in death by a son, John Charles Stine, Jr. as well as a sister, Marsha Stine Moran. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Barbara Ann Skidmore Stine; one daughter, Joanne Stine of Algonquin, IL, one son, Jeffrey Stine of Fletcher as well as six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A service celebrating John's life will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution in John's memory to any organization that supports furthering the education of children. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  1. A wonderful, funny and kind man, father, grandpa and ‘my 2nd dad’ whom I will miss has left us. But. I know he is loving his new audience that are now hearing those stories and jokes. All my love to you and know that I am here if you need me.

  2. I only met Mr. Stine a short time ago, he was a sweet man who made me laugh. Bless your family and thank you for allowing us to help look after him.

We simply cannot imagine the great pain and sorrow you are experiencing during this very difficult time. It is our sincere hope you find comfort in knowing that God has promised to ‘swallow up death forever’ (Isaiah 25:8), and that he will resurrect our dear loved ones who have passed away. John 5:28.

  4. I am a former student of maple school he was a very nice principal and always was kind to his students. I am sorry for the lost of a great person and for the family of Mr. Stine I pray that you can get through this difficult time.

Do not be anxious, for I am your God. I will fortify you, yes, I will help you, I will really hold on to you with my right hand of righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 May God continue to comfort you during your time of bereavement.

  6. Principal of Maple school. You were a part of what made me what i am today and i thank you Mr Stine.
    I believe i was in your office to many times and if i remember my mother had to join me a couple times.
