John Claude Hudson
Fletcher – John Claude Hudson, 63, of Fletcher, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center.
A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of Annie Mae Praytor Hudson, of Arden and of the late Reverend Howard Hudson. He was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey D. Hudson; one brother, David Hudson and one sister, Mary Sue McMinn.
John was a painter by profession and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was of the Baptist faith and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 25 years, Gloria A. Hudson; four daughters, April Hudson and her companion, Kevin, of Asheville, Leona Saltz of Hendersonville, Lori Penland of Arden and Rene Norris and her husband, Kevin, of Canton; four sons, Duane Hudson and his wife, Donna and Robert Hudson and his wife, Dujana, all of Asheville, Mike McCarroll and his wife, Kathi, of Seneca, SC and John Jones and his wife, Bonnie, of Mills River; five brothers, Woodfin, Odell, Dean, Jackie and Ray; four sisters, Judy, Jettabe, Robbie and Evelyn; 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.

johnny was a good friend of mine just like david & libby and the rest of the family i will miss talking to him and cutting up with him but he is in a better place now with no pain thank god i am so sorry for the family god bless to all of you.
Our dear precious ‘grampa’ lost his 2 year battle with cancer this morning. We are so sad that he is gone, but so happy that he is in heaven and cancer free now. He was the most courageous man i have ever known, strong and determined until the very end. Our family is one piece less now, but we know we will all be together again some day.Go rest high on that mountain now Gramps, we love you so much.
My grampa was a fighter and I am honored that I was blessed with two more years to be with him. His grandchildren love the death out of him and we miss him dearly. It’s hard to see someone go that you love so much, but he’s in a better place watching down on us. See you again someday grampa. I love you!!!
My Grampa was such an amazing person. I miss him so much already, but I know he is in a much happier place. Seeing him struggle for the past two years was the hardest thing for me. He never gave up, and put up a strong fight til the very end. I’ll see you one day soon Grampa, and we’ll read Bambi just like old times. I love you.

So sorry to hear of Johnny’s passing. He put up such a fight. Although he will be missed by so many, I know how difficult it is to watch someone you love suffer. He is now without pain and in the presence of our Lord.

Please know that your whole family is in my thoughts and prayers at this very sorrowful time. I did not know Johnny myself, but I can tell that he is a very-loved man by many. The Master Gardner has transplanted His shrub to a Place more suitable for his growth. I know he is happy.
