John Clingman Young Jr.

John Clingman Young, Jr., 88, of Asheville, NC passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Mission Hospital. He was born November 7, 1933, in Asheville to the late John Clingman Young, Sr., M.D., and Susan Louisa Shoe Young. He was also preceded in death by a sister, June Eva Young Jones.

He is survived by his nieces; Vicki Pruitt and Patty Smith both of Murphy, NC and one nephew; Michael Jones of Lake-in the-Hills, Illinois.

Mr. Young was employed as a teacher and was also active in the Asheville Preservation & Historical Society. He played an important roll in the establishment of the Asheville Urban Trail..

He will be dearly missed by his family.

A private burial at Riverside Cemetery is planned.
