John Costello Fletcher – John Costello, 66, of Fletcher, died Monday, September 22, 2014 at his residence. A native of Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of Mary Mulvehill Costello, of Cherry Hill, NJ and of the late John Costello. A veteran of the United States Air Force, he retired with 25 years of service. He was a member of the VIPs (Volunteers in Partnership) through the Henderson County Sheriff's Office. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Christine Aldrich-Costello; one daughter, Mandy Costello Scott of Palmer, AK; one son, John Costello Jr. and his wife, Amy, of Anchorage, AK; two sisters and two brothers, Mary Ellen, Kathleen, Peter and Francis, all of NJ, as well as three grandchildren, Alana, Dayne and Haileigh. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, September 28, 2014 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Kelvin Moseley officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in John's memory to the Air Force Aid Society (www.afas.org) or to a charity of one's choice.
