John David Harrison, 80, passed away Monday, August 30, 2021.
Mr. Harrison was born February 11, 1941, in Hot Springs, NC, to the late John Vernon Harrison and Nettie Rice Harrison. He was also preceded in death by a brother, J.V. Harrison, and sisters, Rebecca Lunsford, Mary Jo Kent and Ruth White.
He retired in 2004 as a detective with the Buncombe County Sheriff Department.
He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marjorie Clay; children, John David Harrison, Tammy Hied, and Pam Hawyer; step-daughters, Phyllis (Poncho) Butt and Debi Rice; sisters, Martha Moore and Doris Thomas; four grandchildren, Jordan, Justin, Jared Butt and Ryan Whittington, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
