Your welcoming smile, friendship, wisdom and kindness will not be forgotten. Rest in peace
David, you were a charmer. You were my next-door-neighbor in Enka, and I loved you. You and Polk made my transition from the city (Asheville) to the country bearable. You were so funny and adorable. We didn’t stay in touch, but I always thought of you with the greatest fondness, and your passing is so sad for me. RIP you little, blond imp!

David was the finest. Honored to have trudged the road a bit with him while he was here.

Thank you for seeing the best in everyone around you. You were one of the most kind and gentle men I’ve ever met. Thank you for sharing your light with so many.
I’m am so sorry to learn of David’s passing and also Polk’s. Their parents were dear friends; and Kit, his mom, and I taught English together at Enka High school. David was a good person who was loved. He did so much positive work for folks at First Step Farm.
Chip Miller, Loved you my cousin. God’s speed with you thru your eternal journey!
David was a great neighbor and Joe Mashburn and I sure shared his love of tomatoes. Every year we competed to see who had the first harvest. Enjoyed our conversation over the years.
David, you showed us how to live life with honesty, openmindedness, willingness and love. And humor and goodwill. We’ll surely miss you.

Greg and I are so sad to hear of your passing. I will always be grateful to you for showing me a new way to live. Greg remembers all of the great joy he shared with you as his step-dad. You were a wonderful man and I have and will always cherish the time we shared together. We love you, Cheryl and Greg
David, thank you for so many things, for being a steady and calming presence in my life, and for reminding me to laugh at myself.
