John grew up on a farm in Duplin Co., NC. He graduated from B.F. Grady High School, Class of ’45. He then served his country in the U.S. Navy as a corpsman on the U.S.S. He later retired from American Enka Corp. following a 35-year career.
He was an active member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church until his health declined in recent years. John loved traveling, woodworking, reading and spending time with his family.
